Fearless 40: Bigelow Panthers
2023 was a season of dreams finally realized as the Bigelow Panthers captured their first-ever 2A state title in football.
Now, they go from being the hunter to the hunted. Bigelow is one of three Central Arkansas teams that will try to defend their throne in 2024.
Last season’s championship was sweet for Head Coach Luke Starks as he accomplished a family mission that was 32 years in the making. His father, Jeff, spent 27 years as Bigelow’s head coach, building the program from the ground up, but never came close to winning it all. Since 2020, the Panthers have been dominant, boasting a 48-4 record.
FOX 16 previews the reigning 2A champs in our annual Fearless 40 countdown. The Panthers spoke about getting back to work right after celebrating their title, having a new quarterback for the first time in two seasons, and their offensive strategy for the 2024 season. Bigelow also returns their entire defensive line rotation from a season ago, which is great news for a squad that held its opponents to just 14.2 points per game last season.
