Fearless 40: Bryant Hornets
For the first time in five years, the Bryant Hornets are not entering a season as the defending state champions.
Bryant’s five-year run ended last year at the hands of Bentonville in the 7A state semifinals.
Coming into 2024, the Hornets appear to be loaded again. Three-year all-state quarterback Jordan Walker, senior running back and Notre Dame commit Daniel Anderson, Myron Thrash, Jr. and senior all-state defensive end Elijah Hill are all back for their final prep season.
The Hornets retain 16 starters from 2023, nine of them on defense. Second-year head coach Quad Sanders says some of the returning players will be three-year starters.
FOX 16 previews the 5-time state champs in our annual Fearless 40 countdown. The Hornets spoke about the humbling experience of last year’s semifinal loss and using it as fuel for 2024.
Quad Sanders also talked about how he will improve as head coach in year two. Bryant will take on five teams this season that made it to the state semifinals last year and they are eager to prove why they are still the team to beat in 7A.
